Bofrot is a yeasted bread balls made with basic ingredients available in every household. Since it has a crunchy texture, it makes a perfect tea time snacks. It is a famous street food available all over Africa with different names. Now let see the recipe.
Bofrot / Yeasted bread balls
Preparation time & Proofing time: 45 ~ 1hourCooking time: Less than 20 minutes
Print HEREServes: 7 ~ 10 ballsAdapted from AdamhomecookingIngredients:1.5 cups of bread flour or all purpose flour½ cup sugarA pinch of saltA pinch of cinnamon/ nut meg1 (7g) packet of dry yeast1 tbsp butter½ tsp vanilla essence1 or less than 1 cup of warm waterCooking oil for deep fryingMethod:1. Mix bread flour, sugar, salt,cinnamon,yeast together in a mixing bowl.2. Add butter and mix with the flour to get the crumbly texture.
3. Add vanilla and water, mix together, till you get a hard dough.4.
Dust the working surface and transfer the hard dough to the surface and
knead dough till it become smooth and soft, it may take 8 to 10
minutes.5. Divide or Cut the dough into bite size pieces and roll it into individual balls6. Dust tray and placed the balls on them, cover with damp cloth and place it in a dry warm place till dough double in size.7. Heat cooking oil in a pan to medium hot, drop the balls and keep turning the Balls till evenly golden brown.8. Remove the balls and drain the oil and allow to cool. Serve warm and enjoy.
